Latest Update

There has been a long holding pattern at the club over the last 6+ week, but all Clubs have recently been given an update regarding a Return to Play.

***********************************************************

RETURN TO PLAY UPDATE

Last night we received the framework for a return to play from Football Tasmania. (attached is their announcement)
Unfortunately, there are still a number of hurdles to cross before we can actually return to training.

We have to speak to the West Tamar Council . There also is " the return to play" documentation for Football Tasmania and Sport and Recreation to complete and get approved.

We are as keen as you to get back to training but cannot do so without permission.
We will communicate with you the moment we can get back to training. So whilst we all have been excited to read the media release from FT there could be a bit more of a wait.

Check out the FT media release here

Update - 18/03/2020

Dear ROFC Community,

The Board, Football Department, Senior Sub-committee and Junior Sub-committee met last night regarding COVID-19 and decisions that we must make. Rest-assured, the proactive and precautionary decisions that we had already made were in advance of subsequent decisions by Football Federation Australia (FFA).

What we know:

- FFA has suspended “all sanctioned matches and competitions, including National Premier Leagues, FFA Cup, youth and grassroots football (including MiniRoos and futsal) as well as training and associated football related activities until 14 April, 2020”.
- Player teas are cancelled until further notice.
- The health and well-being our football players, coaches and extended families is of paramount importance.
- We must continue to communicate with each other and provide support across the club.
- Please check our Facebook page update for information in the comments section that may assist with communicating the implications of COVID-19 across all age groups.
- Please continue to support our much valued sponsors.

What we don’t know:

- We don’t know when training or games will recommence. However, FFA will make a decision well in advance of 14 April, 2020.
- FFA will meet regularly and we will immediately update our members with any information that comes to hand.

What we are trying to find out:

- How we can further support the health and well-being of our players and their families.
- How we can further support our valued sponsors.
- How we can provide virtual training sessions for all ages.
- How we can provide virtual strength and conditioning sessions for our players.

Our Board and Sub-committees have scheduled regular meetings to monitor developments and firm up our actions plans. We will continue to provide regular updates to the ROFC community over the coming weeks.

Junior Training Update - 17th March 2020

Dear Riverside Olympic Parents/Guardians and players

Based on recent developments surrounding the COVID-19, the NTJSA have cancelled Week 1 of the Seeding Rounds which was scheduled to start on the weekend of April 3rd & 4th. A decision will be made regarding the remainder of the 2020 season at the next NTJSA Committee Meeting (set down for Monday the 6th of April). If significant developments occur prior to the 6th of April which cause a season cancellation, this information will be shared immediately.

All NTJSA clubs have unanimously agreed to prioritise player welfare, therefore suspending all junior training (U6 through to U16 Friday night team) from now until the 6th of April.

Can I please ask all coaches and parents to assist in ensuring all players are aware of these changes.

As always please feel free to contact me with any feedback or queries.

Kind regards

--

Update Regarding Junior Training

Dear Parents/Guardians

The Board of Riverside Olympic Football Club, in response to COVID-19, has taken the precautionary decision to cancel junior training this week. The rationale underpinning the move is to allow time for the Board, Football Department, and Junior Committee to meet on Tuesday evening to plan and prepare for additional hygiene measures and social distancing.

Please discuss the following advice, borrowed from our friends Devonport City Strikers Soccer Club, with your children as a proactive measure for when training resumes:

Personal Response
Advice suggests that practicing good hygiene – more specifically, thoroughly and regularly washing our hands with soap and warm water, drying our hands and trying to avoid touching your face is the number one most effective thing that individuals can do to protect themselves and others.

Club Response:
There will be no use of club or communal drink bottles until further notice. Please bring your own, (most already do anyway).  Sadly, we are going have to ‘shelve’ the handshakes until further notice. This is a tough one for us, as those of you that have been around the club for a while will know how big we are on handshakes and what they stand for. There are a range of ‘handshake alternatives’ going around from fist pumping and foot tapping.

Yours in Football
ROFC Board
